About Us

Discover the wonderful Alaskan waters

Fishing is one of the most peaceful activities, but local lakes can become too busy for comfort. Outpost on the Nush has been one of the most remote fly-fishing campsites since 1982. You’ll enhance your time here by witnessing fabulous wildlife and partaking in after-dinner angling. Owner Dave Pishko and the team present unique fishing opportunities in the interior wilderness of Alaska.

DAVE PISHKO - Owner/Guide

Owner and Head Guide, Captain Dave Pishko is a lifelong outdoorsman, ex Pro Rodeo rider, master welder, caster, fly tier and the ultimate handyman. Dave has guided both fly fishing and waterfowl for 13 years, with 4 of those as head guide at the Outpost on the Nush. He tied his first fly at 6 years old, and is now a signature tier for Yellowstone Fly Goods. When asked about why he loves Alaska he replied: “I am driven by the outdoors – it feeds my soul”. Dave is a tireless guide with a great sense of fun, and a passion for protecting the resources he guides on. When not in Alaska, Dave makes his home and guides in the Everglades.

JOHN ATTWOOD - Owner

John was born in Lafayette, Louisiana in 1980, where his passion for fishing started at a young age. John regularly fished the bayous of south Louisiana, but moved to southwest Florida in the 5th grade, where the real fishing fun began! He fished for bass in freshwater ponds and caught saltwater fish, from Boca Grande to the Everglades. John graduated from Vanderbilt University and began a career trading derivative contracts. But his passion for fishing took him around the world exploring the myriad of fresh and saltwater fishing destinations, from Russia to the jungles of Bolivia. This passion led to the beginning of a new career in The Outpost on the Nush. Creating a fantastic team in Alaska while sharing the wonders of Alaska’s wilderness with others has captured his heart. John loves going the extra mile and making life-long memories for all clients visiting the Outpost on the Nush.
Luke Fishing Guide

LUKE ZLATUNICH - Guide

Luke grew up in Northern California and spent summers in Montana where his passion for fly fishing began. After years of angling in Montana and California, Luke decided it was time to make his passion a career. He started guiding in Alaska while earning a degree at California Polytechnic State University during the off season. Luke spent two years guiding in Katmai National Park and after wanting a change, found Outpost on the Nush. He hasn’t looked back and spends his off season chasing waterfowl in Northern California and coaching baseball.

SAWYER KEENER - Guide/Owner

Sawyer Keener is a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captain and seasoned fly fishing guide with roots in the trout waters of Montana. He started young, chasing rising fish and cold rivers, and quickly turned passion into profession — managing Bauer Fly Reels before the age of 25. His guiding career has taken him from the rugged rivers of Patagonia to the wild flats of the Everglades, where he spends his off-season chasing tarpon and tide.

Today, Sawyer guides in remote Alaska, bringing a deep respect for place, a focus on craft, and a creative eye to every day on the water. Whether you’re here to catch fish, learn the nuances, or just experience the solitude, his approach is thoughtful, patient, and rooted in years of experience across some of the world’s most iconic fisheries
