When to Fish

What to fish, when and where

While Rainbow Trout are the main attraction on the Nush, there are many other species to test your tackle. Arctic Grayling, and Dolly Varden are outstanding game species and can be found throughout the season.
Things change from year to year, but a good rule of thumb is to visit us in early to mid-June for aggressive and super hungry rainbows in near-endless daylight. The last week of July is peak time for catching multiple salmon species, and when bear sightings are common. Early August sees the arrival of Silvers, as well as ripe Alaskan blueberries. The river’s rainbow trout reach their peak size from late August through mid-September. No matter when you come for a visit, you’re sure to bring home fantastic memories of your angling action.
